Tessa {5 months}

Emma loves her sister... she proudly tells anyone that will listen.. "This is Tessa, she is my sister!"

Tessa can now roll over, laughs a lot, never spits up, grabs and plays with toys, is teething, rarely cries is 17lb 6oz, in size 3 diapers, and she is wearing 9 -12mo clothes. She is so content and joyful, did I mention a good eater? Yes, the girl can nurse in 10 mins flat and happily move on with life. She smiles all the time, in her sleep, in the car, even seconds after getting a shot. Tessa is one happy, chubby, baby! We love you!

I love candid family pictures at weddings. That sideways glance, that tearful smile, the joyful laughter. It sums up the happiness and pride of decades of love. Family ties can also mean complications and tough questions, like "who will walk you down the aisle?" "Who will sit at the reserved {family tables}?" "Who will be in organized- traditional family photos?"

Make sure to talk through your wishes with your fiancee and your extended family members months before the event. It's better to work through and set every one's expectation, instead of "hoping" everything will work out the day of. Remember your photographer will be greatly appreciative if you already know who you'd like in family photos and what special people you want one-on-one photos of. Your special day happens so quickly, and you don't want it bogged down with family drama!

We just got back from a long vacation with my family for Thanksgiving. Sadly right before we left, Emma came down with a nasty cold from pre-school. Thankfully the kids did well in the car, even with an hour delay in Stockton due to traffic.
Once we got to my parents, of course I got sick too:-( But of course being home, meant my parents and Sylvia could take care of the kids so I could sleep! Troy still got to do lots of fun stuff, went fishing, looked for car parts, and got to mange the bonfire. Emma loved playing with the dogs, picking fruit, roasting marshmallows and of course being the center of the world with grandma and grandpa! By the time we were packing up to go home, Tessa was coughing! Again the kids did awesome in the van, both of them slept the last 3 hours!!! We are home again and back in cell service!!

Tessa {2 months}

Today Tessa turns 2 months old... I can't believe how quickly time passes! With all our computer problems I haven't downloaded my most recent pictures:(

Tessa is practically perfect in every way! She lets me sleep 5-6 hours at night, she's a great eater and is easily comforted! She rarely cries and is content to be alert and happy. She doesn't spit up and is a great traveler. (Tessa has already been on several car trips and camping!) She has been smiling since one week old. At her one month check up she smiled at our pediatrician and he almost cried. (He has helped us with all our adopted cases.) For all the friends and family that have walked through our long adoption & family journey, it's sweet to share now the good times and not just the dark ones! After all the babies we don't have, it makes us appreciate Tessa all the more!

Her happiness is contagious! Just this week she started laughing!

Almost nine years ago, I met this outgoing guy, with orange hair (he had tried to bleach it himself), who had just ran a marathon a few weeks before. He seemed a bit too over confident and a bit too interested in me. I did my best to ignore him, forget his name and avoid his prying questions. Obviously I failed.

Seven and half years after marrying him, he still makes me laugh, is working as hard as ever and still sometimes runs.. though not Marathon distances, since having kids. Happy birthday my love, to the best dad, adoring husband and best of friends!

It's hard to get back into blogging when you have such a cuddly newborn! Emma was always so active and on the move, she was never one to cuddle much. Tessa in all her endearing rolls, can cuddle all day long! We were crazy enough to go camping this weekend.... I know with a 3 week old, and I'm still recovering from my last minute c-section?! We rented an RV though and it made it much more feasible with air conditioning, a shower and just a place to sit that wasn't in the dirt. Emma loved boating, s'mores and staying up late to watch a movie! Here is more camping inspiration.. so fun and a perfect idea for a summer night fete!

Yes, we are alive and well! Just enjoying the newness of baby Tessa.

I'm feeling good this week and working on projects around the house. Hopefully I'll soon have a chance to write out a few thoughts about the last few weeks. My parents have been here on and off since Tessa was born, which has been awesome. {Thanks Mom and Dad for driving up and down the state of California 3x for us!!!} We have been out and about quite a bit, visited neighbors, had family over, been shopping and out more than I probably should have the first week.

Tessa is eating well, sleeping well and growing like crazy! She started life at 8lb 11oz, got down to 7lb 13oz and now weights 9lb 4oz as of Friday on her 2 week birthday! {I'm not quite sure how she ever fit inside me.} She is so cuddly, and expressive! For all the horror stories of newborn life, we really are blessed, Tessa is such an easy, mellow baby!

Emma is still adjusting to life here... she's had lots of changes in the last two weeks, she started pre-school, is starting speech therapy through our public school system and now has a new sister. Emma is very affectionate to Tessa, but she also craves time with Mommy and Daddy. Thankfully Troy is taking time off to be with us during this transition time. Enjoy a few of the millions of pictures we've taken.. thank goodness for digital cameras!!

I've been working on getting the nursery together, which is a work in progress. We have set up and torn down this room so many times, it's been a guest bedroom, our office, our room temporarily, a nursery countless times.. blah, blah, blah. We choose an elephant theme centered around a children's book poem, I found in one of my dad's childhood books! I framed it and loved the look! Emma's 3rd birthday

I'm finally posting on Emma's 3rd Birthday. It was a low key event in the park behind our house. Emma loved the gifts, attention and other kiddo's there. I used the etsy shop Frog Prince Paperie for all the paper goods. Emma helped me make the cupcakes and cookies.

Among the special guests was Lindsey, a newlywed that drove down from the bay area to play with her! (You can see some of Lindsey's wedding pictures here.) The two have such a blast together. Thank you everyone, for coming and making Emma's day special. After chicken, salads and fruit, we played in the pool. Emma wishes everyday could be her birthday!

This Friday we are linking up with J on Life Rearranged to see a little bit of this week. Troy and I celebrated our 7th anniversary this past weekend. In the past... before kids, we would go away for a long anniversary weekend, but these days we decided to stay around the central coast. We explored the new trail Point Buchon apart of Montana de Oro State Park.

We also went to the Melodrama to see Soup du Jour.

For lunch we went to Noi's Little Thai Takeout.. our favorite Thai restaurant by a long shot. {Made fresh in front of you, tiny place with one stove, but oh-so good. FYI- it's cash only.} We tried to go kayaking in Morro Bay, but it was too windy.

We finished our date day by having ice cream at Coldstone and I couldn't help but take a few pictures of the On A Lark Cupcake Shoppe inside our local Coldstone, it's super cute!

I wish I could say the rest of the week was just as fun, but Emma has been down with a nasty summer cold:( Such is real life! Have a great weekend!

Who would have thought cactus would become so chic!? I love the pairing of succulents and vintage decor. Succulents are so hardy and you can do lots of diy projects with them ahead of time and they will still look awesome the day of! Lots of decorative succulents are available at your local nursery, and they are much more inexpensive and far less perishable than cut flowers. Here is some inspiration for your Thursday!

I'm linking up with Lindsey again for What I Wore Wednesday. We traveled a lot this week and I was very bad at taking pics! Above is maternity shirt from my mom, which reminds me of her "hippie" days.. it's right out of something in 1978!

Above is the typical around the house look. The shirt is Old Navy maternity, yoga pants are from Motherhood Maternity.

Saturday was tea baby shower, one of my best friends in Sacramento threw for me. I wore a soft cotton maternity dress from Old Navy online and a sweater from Gap.

It was lots of fun dressing up in all kinds of hats with life long friends! The tea shop was in downtown Dixon and it was filled with ladies of all ages, having bridal showers, birthday parties and meeting friends. There were some sweet 8 year old girls all dressed up for a birthday tea!

We each received our own pot of tea, with dozens to choose from. There were lots of courses of scones, shortbread, sorbet, sandwiches and cakes!

I realize I need more pants that fit.. since most days I live in yoga pants. (Finding maternity pants when you are barely 5'2" isn't easy!) The coast has been so cool I haven't worn shorts at all. Emma's first wedding

With all our computer problems this past week, I'm finally able to post on a wedding Emma was in last weekend. The bride Lindsey is very creative, talented and has a great eye for style. Most of my favorite outfits of Emma's have been from Lindsey. She has loved and adored Emma forever and we were so excited to be a part of her wedding, and you'll love all her diy projects!!!

Can you believe Lindsey made all the flower girl flower pomander balls and the ring bearers flower pillow.. all the week of the wedding??!!!

The bridesmaids dresses are from Anthropologie, so cute!

Lindsey and Brendan had baby pictures hung on these old windows.. so creative!

Love the paper straws and flags! Lindsey decorated with lots of milk glass and turquoise canning jars!!!

Lindsey and Brendan love kids and the wedding was full of little ones! Move back to the central coast please.. so you can babysit/ have sleep overs with Emma!!!
